"Meeting a new face will never be the same again!"

Did you know that your face can communicate without uttering a word? Imagine being able to understand what's happening in the entire body just by observing someone's face!

I recently completed additional training in Facial Reflexology and it is as fascinating as it sounds. I trained in the Bergman Method of Facial Reflexology, developed by Ziggy Bergman from the London School of Reflexology. The method is inspired by Native American and Asian techniques and based on Zone Therapy which forms the basis for all modern reflexology. The body is divided into ten energy zones starting at the crown of the head with five zones on each side of the face and body, extending down to the tips of the fingers and toes.

If you have ever had the more traditional method of reflexology on the feet or hands, you will be aware that reflexes or pressure points correspond to each of the organs and systems within the body, and works by stimulation to the reflexes using a range of techniques. The results promote the body’s own natural healing mechanisms, reduce stress, aid better sleep and calm and relax both body and mind. Facial Reflexology works on all these same principles. Your face serves as a detailed map of your entire body! As on the feet, working the reflex points on the face helps to improve circulation and nerve conduction, encouraging the release of toxins from the body and helping it to function to its optimum potential. However, Facial Reflexology has a unique advantage: it promotes a more radiant, firmer and glowing complexion offering both therapeutic and positive emotional benefits. Due to the face's proximity to the brain and cranial nerves, Facial Reflexology can effectively influence the systems of the body. Improvement in the circulation flow to the face and head speeds up the exchange of oxygen and nutrients, and the removal of carbon dioxide and waste products. Other targeted benefits include the relief of tension in the muscle tissue of the face and there may be improvement in certain conditions, for example, sinus congestion, migraines and Bell’s Palsy.

Your face reveals your entire life from the past through to the present. Your physical and emotional health is represented in each facet, line and structure. A thought will become an emotion and display on the face as an expression. An emotion held over time will become a line or wrinkle. A facial reflexologist may read meaning and connections from certain lines according to the mapped organ or body system over which they lie. This can add to the overall picture they are building to enable them to best help their client.

Facial Reflexology is a new and fascinating subject for me and I look forward to working with many people on their self-care and wellness journey. Meeting a new face will never be the same again!
